[5 OCT] On Saturday 26th May 2007, Dave Armstrong's RV-7 registration A2-RVS took to the air for her first flight in the very capable hands of Chalkie Stobbart from South Africa.

DAVE: "A2-RVS is the first RV to be built and registered in Botswana. She started life as a quick-build and 28 months and some 2200 hours later she flew off into the most beautiful African sunset. On landing some forty minutes later I asked Chalkie how she flew. "She fly's like she knows she's an RV" was his reply. The aircraft is equipped with 'steam driven' Van's instruments, Trio autopilot with altitude hold, Avmap GPS, single Icom radio, transponder and powered by a TMX 0-360 with constant speed Hartzell prop. My thanks for all their help go to my wife Jenny who has been a tower of strength, my son Garth who helped with the bucking and my flying buddies from South Africa who flew up to the ranch to help the "old man" when he was running out of ideas, Andy Lawrence, Peter Lastrucci, John Runciman, Dolf Kruger and Chalkie Stobbart. I would also like the thank all those at Van's Aircraft who made it possible for this project to happen. The design and manufacturing of this kit aircraft is out of this World."

[5 OCT] Peter Cooke finished his RV8 test flight program and is ready to go!

Peter: "(First flight was on 23 February 2007). Registration ZU-CHI. Fitted with a Lycoming IO360 200hp engine and Hartzell C/S propeller, Lasar electronic ignition system and inverted fuel and oil systems. I installed classic round dial instruments along with a Garmin GNC 250XL Comm/GPS set and a Bendix/King altitude encoding transponder. All round a delight to fly."
